Punny business pt 1

Photographer David Hares writes to nominate Beddy Buyz, in the Elephant & Castle. A classic of the genre.

Ben Terrett of The Design Conspiracy has also been in touch. He's expanded the brief beyond 'punny', however. (Which may be the key to a fuller postbag.) From Ben, we learn of the admirable candour of 'Spendloads Please' on Jamaica Road, London, and of the oddly disconcerting 'Legal Food' Chinese takeaway in Lincoln.

FrogBen has also stumbled across a marvellous bit of verbal branding (left). Although there's always the danger amphibian-haters may take this the wrong way, it's a splendid thing when spoken aloud.

Lastly, we have a pun of such panache that it demands to be heard, even though it's not a business name. Instead, it's the strapline for a company called Bargain Booze, spotted on the side of a lorry by fellow copywriter Nick Asbury. The line reads: "Making life richer... for the pourer!"

If you've got any similar corporate marvels to share, please send them in.
