The new Chief Investment Officer at the University of California wanted a completely new look and feel for his office’s annual report: something, in his words, ‘people would actually read’.
He wanted to show how this vast University’s $91 billion of assets were being used to benefit the institution – and the world.
At the same time, he was keen to show how traditionally siloed departments were working in ever-greater partnership.
To get all these messages across in engaging form, we worked with our friends at Mucho in San Fransisco to create a report in two parts.
First, a compact introductory booklet told the broad story. And second, a larger book set out the full financial details.
The client was thrilled with the result, which is a world away from their previous PDF reports, which were packed with dense copy and featured covers attempting to look like traditional leather portfolios.
The new report leaps forward into the twenty-first century – with such success that they recently asked us to work on the next one.
